Area 45 & Round Table

What is Area 45 ?

Also known as "Midland Shires", Area 45 is one of 53 regions within Round Table in Britain and Ireland (RTBI). In turn, RTBI is part of a world-wide movement of Round Tables.

Area 45 itself is made up of 19 individual Round Tables across Warwickshire, Northamptonshire and Leicestershire.

What is Round Table ?

Tabling has it's roots in Norwich in 1927. From one man's idea it has grown to become an international organisation spanning around 62 countries and involving over 36,000 members.

Today, while individual Round Tables all have their own unique outlook and peculiarities, they are all built around the same philosophy - having fun, leading an active social life and support for the local community.

Most Tables meet on a regular evening every fortnight, primarily on a social basis. Members take it in turns to organise events for these evenings which can include just about anything - and usually do ! White water rafting, karting, climbing and so on perhaps when people feel energetic; or a snooker evening, pub visit, BBQ or quiz night when a more leisurely evening is called for.

Tables also run regular fun-raising events - most notably local firework displays, Xmas Santa Floats and similar community based activities. Funds raised are then donated to (usually local) good causes and community projects.

Organising Tables in to areas allows Tablers to take part in a wider local network - which basically means more chance for fun and fellowship !

Joining Round Table

Round Table is open to men aged 18-45. After that you get thrown out - it helps keep Table fresh and dynamic. Ex Tablers often go on to join the 41 Club (yes, we know - but the age limit used to be 41 so...), where they can keep in touch and continue to enjoy the friendships that were made as members of the Round Table. There is always a strong link between 41 clubs and the local Table, especially when it comes to assisting with fundraising acitvities where 41 Club members provide invaluable support.

Round Table is also proud of it's open nature - it welcomes members without regard to creed, colour, occupation, social outlook or any other persuasion of any kind. Indeed, vareity is the spice of life. The only essential requirements are a desire to have fun, and to put a bit back in to the local community.

Any of the Tables in Area 45 would be very happy to receive enquiries. You can use the Contact Us facility to get in touch with your local Table.

Prospective members usually attend several events before they decide whether to join or not - and there's no pressure one way or the other - Tabling is as it is because it's members have chosen to be a part of it, and continue to enjoy it.
