Help

Welcome to the Area 45 website. Hopefully, most of the features should be self-explanatory, but here is quick guide to the basics. This help will be updated occasionaly as new explanations are required or are suggested - mail the webmaster with any if you have them.

Public and Registered users

Most areas of the site are intended for Tablers only. If you try and navigate to one of these areas you will be asked to log in. To obtain a login Username and Password you will first need to regsiter. This can be done online, and is open to all members of Area 45. We use the RTBI data to match records for Area 45 members, so if your data nationally is missing or not up to date you may not be able to register - in which case contact the webmaster via the contact us facility.

After regsitering yu will be sent an email with an activation link. You will need to use this link to activate you account before logging in for the first time.

Not all users are equal !

All regsitered users can view information, download resources, submit pictures to the gallery, post blogs and recieve email bulletins.

One or two members from each Table are assigned additional rights to edit their own Table's information (on the Area Tables page) as well as issue bulletins, add resources, add and amend event details. If you wish to change the allocation of these additonal rights within your own Table, please have your Chairman contact the websmaster via the contact us facility.

Finally, various members of Area Exec etc. have even more access rights and can genarlly play God with most of the data, create and delete users at will and other such wonderful things. You will know if this includes you !

Keep your details up to date

You can do this via the link at the top left of the menu column below your name, once you have logged in. Please be aware that the data is also regularly refreshed from RTBI, so if your details are incorrect there they will overwrite any updated details you have posted here and make them out of date. The moral is - keep your RTBI data up to date ! You can do that via the RTBI website.

The page that describes each Table in area can be edited by Table reps (you can edit your own chunk of the page) - please keep it up to date and relevant.

Blogs

Any registered user can post a blog. Keep it clean though, please! By default all blogs are readable by the general public although you can decide to make it for Tablers only with the option settings. You can also decide the categories the blog should go in to - if you think there should be more categories then just mail the webmaster and I'll add them (if I agree !!!).

Event Diary

Area exec members and individual Table reps can add / edit entries. These entries can be supplemented as required by adding updates (with an email copy if required) - the updates simply stack up against the diary entry. Please keep the entries to events that are relevenat to Area - i.e. don't use it for local Table events unless you are inviting other Tables to participate.

Gallery

View and load up pictures. Again, by default pictures will be available to the public for viewing - so bear that in mind. Some pictures may be classified 'members only' by the editor if deemed not entirely suitable for public display and restricted accordingly.

Directory

Not much to say here, except that the data is drawn from RTBI and regular refreshes will be made from the same source - so keep RTBI up to date. You can of course edit your own details as required.

Bulletins

Area exec members and Table reps can issue bulletins which will be recorded on the site as well as sent out as an email (if you wish) to various members according to your selection (e.g. just exec, all area tablers etc). You can attach up to 3 files to a bulletin, just like email.

Resources

Images, documents and so on. Area exec and table reps can upload / download - everyone else can download only.

Site Admin

You'll only see this menu option if you have site admin rights - if you see it then you should already know what it's all about. If not, then mail the webmaster please for an explanation.

That's about it - mail the webmaster if any probs - and he'll try and reply ASAP.
